How to Request files from OneDrive

Requesting files in one drive is a secure method to have a remote user share large files with you without allowing direct access to the files. Users uploading files will ONLY be able to upload files to that folder, and will not be able to see their contents.

  1. Log into OneDrive
    1. Go to portal.office.com
    2. Log in using your email address and password
    3. Authenticate with MFA if applicable.
  2. Click the Menu Button in the top left
  3. From the Menu, click "OneDrive"
  4. Click "New" in the top ribbon bar, then click "Folder"
  5. Give the Folder a unique name and click create.
  6. You should now see the folder listed, click it so that it is highlited and click "Request Files" in the top ribbon.
  7. Name the request and click Next.
  8. On the following screen you can either copy the link to email to someone or you can email it directly from here. Once you have entered the desired recipient(s) click send.
  9. The user(s) that you are requesting files from will receive a link to be able to upload files directly to that folder.
  10. You will receive a notification once someone uploads files to the folder as well.
  11. To access the files log back into one drive (Steps 1-3) and click into the folder that you created. The files will be organized based on the user name that uploaded them.
